Event Details
The GAWL/MTC Know Your Rights Series is a collaborative outreach initiative created in 2019 by current GAWL President Kareemah Lewis and the late Honorable Judge Dorothy Toth Beasley. This powerful program provides monthly, informative legal presentations to the women of the Metro Transitional Center (MTC) —a Georgia Department of Corrections Facility.
The series is designed to educate and empower women at the facility, helping to reduce recidivism and support successful reintegration. Past presentation topics have included Family Law, Landlord/Tenant Rights, and Entrepreneurship 101, delivered by GAWL members and other professionals across Georgia’s legal and business communities.
These presentations are educational only and do not offer legal advice or individual consultation. Past speakers have included leaders from the Georgia Legal Services Program, The Jean Consulting Group, and The Fortune Learning Center.
GAWL is proud to support the MTC community and remains committed to equipping women with the tools to navigate life after incarceration with knowledge, dignity, and confidence.
Contact the Public Affairs Committee for more information on this event. Please note that all guests must notify the committee if they would like to attend. All guests must be approved by the MTC before attending.
