GAWL Mid-Year Recap

GAWL Mid-Year Recap

As we reach the midpoint of our board year and look ahead to the start of 2026, I am proud to reflect on all that we have accomplished together and on our shared legacy.

GAWL continues to grow and thrive, and this year’s accomplishments reflect that.

  • National Recognition: I have been honored to share GAWL’s mission beyond our organization. In November 2025, I was recognized by my alma mater, UNC Chapel Hill, as a Harvey E. Beech Outstanding Young Alumni, where I proudly shared that GAWL is a significant reason for this recognition. I was also featured in Juris Education, highlighting GAWL and the ways we continue to shape and lead our profession.

  • Membership Growth: We are nearing 900 members and are well on our way back to 1,000 members, a milestone that speaks to GAWL’s continued relevance and impact.

  • Robust Programming: We have hosted more than 50 events statewide, connecting, educating, and empowering women across the profession. We also introduced 20 Girl Scouts to the legal profession at our Annual Girl Scouts Mock Trial event.

  • Signature Events:

    • Our Membership Kickoff set the tone for a dynamic board year with almost 100 GAWL members in attendance.

    • The GAWL Judicial Luncheon welcomed approximately 80 judges, reinforcing GAWL’s strong relationship with the judiciary.

    • Our Annual Holiday Party brought together more than 100 GAWL members for an unforgettable evening at the home of our gracious hosts, Judge Ardra Bey and John Bey of Bey & Associates.

  • Advocacy & Impact: In partnership with the National Women’s Law Center, GAWL filed an amicus brief supporting a habeas petition challenging unconstitutional gender discrimination in jury selection.

    • We extend sincere thanks to McGuireWoods, Cheryl L. Haas, Natasha S. Cooper, M. Laughlin Allen, Grace Greene Simmons, Nicole M. Cruikshank, and longtime GAWL member Rachel Rosenberg for their important work on authoring this brief. Did you know that GAWL was an early advocate for women's right to serve on juries in Georgia?

  • GAWL Sponsors: We remain deeply grateful to all of our spnsors especially our Event, Diamond, and Platinum sponsors, whose continued support sustains and elevates our mission.

Finally, thank you to our exceptional GAWL Board for your leadership, dedication, and service, and to our members for continuing to move GAWL forward. As we finish this board year strong and look ahead to 2026, we remain committed to celebrating the legacy of excellence that defines GAWL and carrying it boldly into the future.

Happy Holidays, and best wishes for an amazing New Year.

With gratitude,
