Contingency fee arrangements do not require the plaintiff to pay for anything out-of-pocket until and unless the case is “won” — whether through a negotiated settlement or through a favorable courtroom verdict.  Instead, all expenses (for medical records, experts, investigation, discovery, trial litigation, etc.) are covered by the firm.

How do contingency fees work?

Once the case is over (either by trial or settlement), a percentage of the total number is paid out to the firm.  In large personal injury firms with big overhead costs, this percentage can be high, sometimes coming in at 40 percent of the total recovery even if the case is settled without litigation - that’s not the case at Gilormo Injury Law.
