Our November member spotlight is Melaney LaGrone, CEO and founding attorney of LaGrone Law, an immigration and criminal defense firm. A graduate of the Thomas M. Cooley Law School, Melaney was inspired to join GAWL in 2019 after noticing how active the Gwinnett chapter was and realizing how many fellow attorneys and judges she knew were active in GAWL.
As a GAWL member, Melaney has enjoyed the neighborhood networking breakfasts and participating in the 2025 GAWL Leadership Academy, which she said showed her more possibilities for using her lawyering skills for other passions of hers. Melaney appreciates how GAWL, through its programming and events like GAWL Leadership Academy and Judicial Luncheon equips women lawyers with resources and skills to truly thrive and be leaders in this profession. Melaney says, “[GAWL] is an organization that truly believes in inspiring and fostering women lawyers to be leaders in the field.”
Melaney is also very passionate about mental health, wellness, and fitness. She says, “especially in our profession, we must make sure that we are pouring into ourselves like we pour into our clients, colleagues, staff, and team. If we are not taking care of ourselves, there is no way for us to take care of others. Putting ourselves first is a must."
