Laura Leigh Rashidi-Yazd
Laurie Rashidi manages the Atlanta Legal Aid Society's Adoption Project placing uncontested relative adoptions with volunteer attorneys in Georgia. She also works in the family law unit as a domestic relations litigator in Fulton County. She moved to this position after serving as a staff attorney at Legal Aid of Cobb County. An active member of the Georgia Bar Association, Cobb County Bar Association, Atlanta Bar Association, National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and Georgia Association of Women Lawyers, Laurie stays connected with the legal community. She is a member of the Georgia Bar’s Family Law, Elder Law, Georgia Women Lawyers and Fiduciary Practice Sections. She is a GAWL Leadership Class 2014 Alumna, winner of the Cobb Bar's Pro Bono Award for 2014, and the 2015 GAWL President's Award. Laurie started practicing intellectual property and complex commercial law in Atlanta in 2004 and then opened her own practice until 2014 when she joined Atlanta Legal Aid. In addition Laurie volunteers with numerous local non-profits, foundations, and charities. She serves on several local boards and enjoys collaboration with civic organizations. Ms. Rashidi earned her juris doctorate from the nationally recognized intellectual property school, The University of New Hampshire School of Law, graduating with honors in the top 10% of her class. During law school, she interned with the New Hampshire Supreme Court, served on the New Hampshire Intellectual Property Association, and volunteer lawyer organizations. Laurie earned her B.A. from Luther College and taught English and special education and Iowa and Maine before attending law school.
