The GAWL Foundation awards scholarships annually every spring to deserving female law students in Georgia. Proceeds raised by the Annual GAWL Foundation Charity Art Auction, held in the Spring of each year, fund the annual scholarship awards.
GAWL Foundation Scholarships are intended to:
*Recognize women law students who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence and an aptitude for leadership and philanthropy;
*Promote excellence in legal studies by providing assistance to deserving students; and
*Advance the missions of both the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers and the GAWL Foundation by enhancing the welfare and development of women lawyers and supporting their interests, and by encouraging philanthropy by women lawyers in Georgia for the benefit of the greater community.
If you are interested in applying for a scholarship, the Scholarships Committee will post the 2014-2015 application to the website once it becomes available, but in the meantime here is a link to the 2013-2014 application for your reference. When selecting recipients, the committee considers the following criteria: academic achievement, leadership, community service and philanthropic potential, and a strong commitment to the profession. Involvement in programs that advance or support women in the profession and in the community are given particular consideration.
