The GAWL Foundation awards scholarships every spring to deserving female law students in Georgia. Proceeds raised by the Annual GAWL Foundation Art Auction, held in the spring of each year, fund the annual scholarship awards.
The Foundation is currently seeking qualified applicants for the GAWL Foundation Scholarships to be awarded to deserving second and third year female law students in Georgia. Download the 2017-2018 Scholarship Application here.
GAWL Foundation Scholarships are intended to:
- Recognize women law students who have demonstrated a commitment to excellence and an aptitude for leadership and philanthropy;
- Promote excellence in legal studies by providing assistance to deserving students;
- Advance the missions of both the Georgia Association for Women Lawyers and the GAWL Foundation by enhancing the welfare and development of women lawyers and supporting their interests, and by encouraging philanthropy by women lawyers in Georgia for the benefit of the greater community.
AWARDS GIVEN: Two to four scholarships are given each year, contingent on the applicant pool and scholarship funds raised at the GAWL Foundation Art Auction. In recent years, the individual scholarships have ranged in value from $1,000 to $5,000. Finalists traditionally volunteer and are recognized at the GAWL Foundation Art Auction. Scholarship winners are honored at the GAWL Annual Dinner and receive, in addition to the scholarship, a complimentary one-year GAWL membership.
